National Environmental Sustainability Conference was successfully organized on June 25, 2025, at the Marriott Hotel, Karachi, by Youth Parliament and Made in Pakistan Movement, in collaboration with Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including youth leaders, environmental experts, industry professionals, government officials, and representatives from various sectors, all united by a shared commitment to a greener, more sustainable Pakistan.
“Environmental protection is the cornerstone of sustainable development.”
These were the words of Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Energy, Planning, and Development, Government of Sindh, who graced the event as Chief Guest.
In his address, Minister Shah emphasized the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy. He revealed that Sindh is actively pursuing tax exemptions for electricity consumers using up to 300 units who transition to solar power. Discussions with the federal government on this matter are currently underway.
The conference was formally inaugurated by Mr. Rizwan Jaffar, Chairman and Founder of the Youth Parliament and Made in Pakistan Movement. In his opening remarks, he underscored the urgency of prioritizing environmental sustainability in Pakistan:
“In a developing country like Pakistan, environmental protection must be a national priority. This conference aims to unite youth and institutions on a single platform to forge a path toward a more sustainable future.”
Mr. Abdul Aleem Lashari, Secretary of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the critical role of young people in shaping the country’s environmental future:
“Youth are the driving force behind meaningful environmental change. We must empower them through opportunities, mentorship, and active engagement.”
A panel discussion featuring leading environmental experts followed, where they examined Pakistan’s urgent ecological challenges and explored long-term, actionable strategies for sustainable development.
As a gesture of appreciation, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Mr. Tariq Mustafa (Advisor to the Governor of Sindh), and Mr. Shakeel Kaim Khani (Governor, Rotary International Pakistan) presented commemorative souvenirs to organizations recognized for their notable contributions to environmental sustainability.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Saquib Ejaz, CEO of EHS Services, shared his gratitude and a hopeful vision for the future:
“We must work together to design systems that support sustainable, eco-friendly growth. Today’s conference has reignited our hope and strengthened our resolve.”
